EXCERPT:

the urge for Alto Saxophone (2001)
Lee Morrison, saxophone

NOTES:

Much of the musical fabric of the urge is generated from a small set of pitches. As the composition unfolds, I also focus on the timbral possibilities of the saxophone through the use of extended techniques and careful use of the characteristics of the different registers.

This work was completed in June of 2001 in Florence, Italy as a part of the Bowling Green State University program “Music and Art in Florence” under the direction of John Sampen and Marilyn Shrude.
