EXCERPT:

Meditation for Flute, Alto Saxophone and Computer (2002)
Chris Blossom, saxophone
Kathie Apple, flute

NOTES:

Meditation reflects my continual work towards understanding the mysterious aspects of human life. It is my opinion that the existence of music in human life and its significance are difficult to describe. This ambiguity shares a correlation with the practice of meditation that is common within eastern cultures. Through patience and emptiness meditating leads to a new sense of awareness and calmness that can be described as a “spiritual bliss”— the moment when the human and the natural unite.

In merging the electroacoustic and acoustic mediums, I concentrated on a careful analysis of both elements as I strived for cohesion. My primary focus was on color, timbre, flow, and harmony. The work is being realized using Cycling 74’s Max/MSP software.
